Industrial Engineering, Business Administration/Management, or Computer Science?

Hello, I’m a freshman college student, and I have just finished 1st term. My current course is Computer Science, but I am thinking of shifting to either Industrial Engineering or Business Management. I am also considering if Accounting or Finance might be a better choice or not. However, I am also not sure if I am going to shift. Should I stick to Computer Science?

I am skilled in computers, but I would not say that I am ultra-good in them. I am leaning more into the so-so kind of above average when it comes to programming. I am also not that tech-savvy. But I am excellent in Math.

Reason why I am considering those other picks because I can’t see myself facing the computer for my whole entire life. Plus, I would rather see myself in managerial positions if ever. In fact, that is what I happen to lack in: communication skills and leadership skills, which is basically the reason why I want to take them, so I can hone them.

If possible, you could give information on those other courses as I do not know much yet about them.

Thank you guys, and I hope I will be enlightened. :)

The degree that is ideal for you is a Bachelor’s in Technology Management (sometimes called Bachelor’s in Industrial Technology). This is a blended degree sort-of half-way between Engineering (Computer Science) and Business, having courses in both.

These degrees are accredited by ATMAE.

San Jose State has a BSIT in Electronics and Computer Technology, which includes Management/Supervisory courses.

Another option is to take a Bachelor’s in Computer Engineering Technology, then a Master’s in Technology Management.
